Canyon

Canyon is a youngster in our program who joined us from SCRAPS shelter in Spokane, WA. What a cool, athletic, intelligent, affectionate dog, who will be really fun to continue raising now that he's also fully trained! This dog is very smart, active and in need of regular exercise or mental stimulation in your lifestyle and routine. <br/><br/>Canyon loves toys and play time with other dogs, he has been fostering with lots of dogs of all sizes and ages. While he can be a little insecure and inexperienced in the world sometimes, he warms up quickly even if unsure about new people/things. <br/><br/>Roughly 1.5 years of age, under 40 lbs, crate trained, leash trained, off leash reliable through remote collar conditioning, Canyon is easy to bathe, and good in the car. Suggest slightly older kids so he doesn't overwhelm when excited, maybe age 5-6 years and up? But he's a good boy who would love a person or family of his own. Great hiking or running pal, needs daily walks at least, but also knows when it's time to settle on a down/stay or in the crate. <br/><br/>Canyon was a stray in Eastern Washington before he was picked up by animal control. Once in the shelter system, he was adopted to a home with a lot of different animals, where he could become overstimulated and prone to herding people and pets. He was returned to the shelter for his "herding" behavior, but he has been extremely easy to train in our program, and we have resolved this former behavior issue that prevented him from enjoying a permanent place in someone's home. <br/><br/>Now that he's fully remote collar trained and rules/manners have been explained to him, Canyon has impulse control and can be corrected for anything you want to extinguish. <br/><br/>Canyon is fostered/trained in Spokane, WA with lots of other dog friends - his adoption comes with two comprehensive training sessions, as well as lifetime behavior support.
