Cane's Story
MEET CANE: a Sweetheart Boxer-mix Pup
This is a courtesy post for a friend of mine, who is currently fostering this absolute gem of a pup for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. I spent an afternoon with Cane and fell head-over-heels in love with him. I promised him that Id help him find his forever family. Once you read about him, you'll see why!

The Quick Details:
Breed: Boxer Mix, with the signature underbite, snub nose, high energy, and a dog who uses his paws a lot
Age: 13 month-old pup
Weight: 42 lbs
- Neutered
- Social skills: good with other dogs, particularly one who are energetic and playful; can be disciplined by cats
Temperament: high energy, fearless in most situations, trainable, and very silly
- House trained
- Crate trained

What Canes foster mom says: Cane wants to have his own person and/or family to bond with. As much as Cane loves to play and mimic my 20 month old Belgian Sheepdog, Cane follows me around the house; when I sit down, he lies down close to me, often on my foot. At night, he sneaks onto my bed and curls up right next to me. That said, Cane is not a clingy dog.

Right now, Cane is a young dog—still a puppy in many respects. He gains confidence from my dogs and from me. When confronted with a new activity, e.g. going up/down stairs or riding in a car, Cane adapts quickly if my dogs are there.

Let me stress that Cane, like most boxers, is extremely active and energetic. He needs way more exercise daily than other dogs. He plays for hours with my rambunctious teenaged pup. Cane probably would take to running with his human, taking 1-2 mile walks, playing fetch for an hour an hour or two, etc.

The exercise Cane needs isnt merely the physical. He is a smarty pants so his brain needs exercise too. Mental exercise includes training, special toys, sniffing outside, and being exposed to new situations, e.g.. yesterday he and I sat across the street while landscapers worked in my yard; Cane sat down and watched them for 10 minutes, sniffing all the while.

Cane is a great pup. I know whomever adopts Cane will be adopting their soul dog.

Interested in adopting or want to learn more?
Please share this post to help Cane find his perfect match! If you're interested in meeting him, drop a comment below or send me a DM so I can connect you directly with his foster mom.
Let's get this sweet boy home!
#AdoptDontShop #FosteringSavesLives #MontgomeryCountyPets #BoxerMix #AdoptMe #DogGoesSpishSplash
