Meet Candy, an almost 2-year-old Lab mix, weighing 35 pounds (as of 3/5/26). This playful girl was unfortunately surrendered by her owners in Mississippi but with hopes of a new fur-ever family on the horizon, she's looking forward to making every day with you a whole lot sweeter! Don't believe us? See what Candy has to say:

Hi! I'm Candy, your future bundle of joy and you didn't even have to give birth! My days are filled with goofy antics that'll have you rolling with laughter so get ready to tone your abs from the workout. I'm also known for my bursts of energy (I like to call them Starbursts, like the candy!) I love making friends and I'm always ready for a cuddle or a fun game. If you throw a ball, I'll be your best player! If you're playing Monopoly, I'll be the thimble! If you're playing hide-and-seek, chances are you'll never find me 'cause I'm just that clever. All that's to say, get ready to lose at your own game, sucker!

I'm crate trained, leash trained and house trained, yay me! Sometimes I can be a little shy with new people (isn't everyone?) but I'm super friendly once you get to know me. I'm great with other dogs, have had experience with cats and I love kids! Mainly 'cause the kids let me lick their candy, but still, gotta love 'em! I may get a little mouthy when I'm playing, but I'm working on that. I just get so excited! You'd be excited too if you weren't already a sad adult jaded by life. But that's why I'm here, to make your life as sweet as can be!

Bring on the laughter and adventure! Adopt me and let's start our journey of friendship and endless fun together!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Candy, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
