Candy's Story
Candy, as you can guess by her name, is a very sweet girl. She’s a 5 year old French bulldog recently introduced to life outside the puppy mill where she can be a dog and not viewed as a puppy printing machine.

Candy currently lives with 4 resident dogs and loves each of them and all have helped her learn to dog and live life as part of a pack. Her butt almost never stops wiggling with joy these days. She loves to run in the grass, probably because it’s still a new feeling after years in a cage. She and her current pack have a fenced yard for running. When she’s extra happy sometimes she does a circle flip which is just as cute as you’re imagining.

Candy’s ideal home will have someone familiar with her breed or at least someone who has done their research and is prepared to spend time on her training. She’s adorable and always smiling but she’s still learning house dog manners and can go from cute to challenging from one moment to the next. She generally wants to please people once she understands what they want but sometimes that full Frenchie attitude is on display and suddenly Candy cannot listen to a thing you say. A resident dog (or more) would also be helpful. Her canine foster siblings have been a big help in Candy’s adjustment to the good life.

Candy’s future home will also require someone who can be patient and reassuring. She’s only recently been introduced to the wider world and sometimes it’s still strange and overwhelming. Loud noises and objects coming at her unexpectedly can frighten her. Someone who she trusts to keep her safe will be instrumental.

Candy does well when crated, even choosing to sleep in an open crate when one is available inside a pen. Her leash manners are very good when she goes for walks. She’s even gone on a few small “field trips” and met other people. As long as her foster mom is right there with her she’s happy to make new friends.

Candy's adoption fee is $600! This adoption fee includes: her alter, a microchip, her rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think she may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius. This dog is currently being fostered in Branchport, NY.
