Candie's Story

CANDIE! Outdoor Adventurer and best teammate! How happy we feel to have been able to offer rescue to our smiley, marvelous mixed pup named Candie with those soft, soulful eyes. She is approximately 2 years old and an ideal, fun weight of 33 pounds! Candie is currently being fostered in Monkton, VT at a Canine Camp, learning from and sharing with a variety of different canine friends. There has not been one dog that has not made friends with Candie. She’s a very socially appropriate dog that others gravitate to. She has made friends with dogs of all sizes. She has a playstyle that matches others, her favorite being on the ruff and rowdy side, but also can gently play with the soft and dainty.

Candie has good recall skills, good leash skills and excellent house manners. She’s a flexible girl, she is adaptive to change, goes with the flow and can make herself at home in many different environments, including friends’ homes, wineries, breweries, outdoor parks, picnics, camping, etc… Hiking is a dream with Candie and she would be thrilled with some mountain peaks, or some flat trails in the woods. She’s a great co-pilot too!

Oh, and kiddos…. LOVES kiddos. She’s soft and gentle and enjoys their attention.
She’s undemanding but sure does love a good snuggle on the couch and in the bed. Candie has proven to be a good-natured pup, tolerant and cooperative. She is observant of her surroundings and will let you know of anything out of the ordinary but also can turn off when given direction. We would call her an alert dog.

Candie’s skill level can without doubt, reach high levels with devoted adopters. She loves to live alongside her people and be the best companion as you journey through life together. She’s one in a million and waiting to have a that special relationship with her people. Her ideal home would be:
-Active family that enjoys including their pup in their everyday lifestyle and enjoys the outdoors.
-Committed family to continue building all those special skills waiting to emerge.
-Large outdoor space
-Another playful pup or 2.
-A family that is mostly home or can provide fun energy outlet if gone for hours.
-Candie is cat curious and will chase, so she is seeking a feline free home.

To learn more, fill out our application link here:
https://longtraildogs.org/adoption-application/
