Callum was surrendered to a Canadian shelter, along with 4 other dogs, when his owner was overwhelmed with 5 dogs and did what was in their best interest and surrendered them where they could be safe at the shelter.<br/><br/>They were well taken care of, short of needing grooms and mostly vetted, so they come from a home that had the best intentions.<br/><br/>Callum is 1 year old, according to his previous owner, but we weren't provided with an exact birthdate, so we gave him an estimated DOB: August 1, 2025. He weighs in at 5.1 KG / 11 POUNDS . I don't know what his breed mix(es) are. Poodle something presumably.<br/><br/>Mattie's Place does not deem any dog in our care hypoallergenic, allergy-free or non-allergenic. Unless you are willing to take daily medication to manage dog allergies, please do not apply to adopt because I can't risk a dog being returned due to allergic reactions.<br/><br/>Callum is a very sweet and happy dog. He's still unsure about everything new; people, pets and things, but he's learning each day and building his confidence in his foster home.<br/><br/>When he's feeling a little "uncertain" he shows his anxiety with some barking and vocal anxiety, but it doesn't take him long to settle when directed by his foster Mom.<br/><br/>Callum is a very good dog but even being a good dog could benefit from a professional trainer support for a few training sessions to get him up to speed on basic dog life and help build a bond between adopter and Callum. It could also strengthen his confidence with new people and things that enter his life.<br/><br/>Callum is a dog that will require regular grooming, so be sure that is in your budget when considering adoption.<br/><br/>Callum is a dog that LOVES his people and we are seeing some separation anxiety currently. He's left home in foster care, very little right now, so it's not full work days that we can test him with, but his threshold currently is about 1 hour before he gets vocal and needs his person back home. So, confidence building is going to be important if considering adoption and a home most often, work from home or take your dog to work scenario (or opt for daycare) will be an important consideration when determining his best adoption options.<br/><br/><br/>FROM HIS FOSTER:<br/><br/>Callum (we like to call him Calli-Walli) is the most loving, happy, and affectionate little white ball of fluff. He is a sweet-natured little boy who loves being close to his person and is happiest when he knows he is safe, loved, and included.<br/><br/>He is completely house trained and did wonderfully with pee pads during his first couple of days. He now happily does his business outside on his walks. He is still gaining confidence when out and about and can is a little nervous around streetcars, trucks, and people who want to pet him. <br/><br/>He is very curious about the world around him and absolutely loves squirrels when he is lucky enough to spot one so definitely keep a good hold of that leash!<br/><br/>Callum can become easily overstimulated on walks and is naturally very alert to his surroundings. He isn't comfortable around larger dogs, but with some guidance and reassurance, he will generally ignore them and continue on his way. <br/><br/>We currently enjoy four 10–15 minute walks each day, which works well for him.<br/><br/>At home, Callum loves playing with his toys and happily settles in with his favourite chew toy for some chewing time. <br/><br/>He can be vocal when he hears someone in the condo corridor or when someone enters the office while he is there, but he responds well to direction and knows the word "stop." <br/><br/>He is a smart little guy who is eager to listen and learn.<br/><br/>Callum is also a great little traveller. He does very well in the back seat of the car and will settle into his bed for a nap on the way to work. At the office, he settles down quickly under my desk, although he likes to stay aware of what is happening around him and likes to alert me by barking when someone has entered.<br/><br/>Most of all, Callum loves and definitely wants to be beside his person as much as possible. He is perfectly happy settling in for a cozy evening of Netflix on the couch with his favourite human. <br/><br/>He does have some separation anxiety, but he can comfortably be left alone for around an hour or so while uncrated. If he gets bored, he may get creative with tissues, so it is best to keep garbage safely out of reach!<br/><br/>He also does very well in his crate and is happy to settle in with just a few of his favourite toys.<br/><br/>Overall, Callum is a loving, affectionate, intelligent little dog who is still building his confidence in the world around him.
