Callie's Story

Age/Sex: 9 year old spayed female
Details: House broken, Crate trained, Obedience, OK with dogs and kids, Needs Fence

Location: Bartlett, IL
Email Address: Deborah Giesler at dgiesler@cypgrp.com
Phone: 847-940-0977

Online Adoption Application: www.americanbrittanyrescue.org or http://fs20.formsite.com/brittanyrescue/form10/index.html

Dog Story
Say hello to Callie! She’s a very friendly girl that greets everyone with kisses. Her favorite activities are taking walks, meeting new people, playing ball (fetch and keep away), riding in the car, destroying her toys (LOL,) and snuggling on the couch. You would never know she’s nine years old. Her motto is “play hard, sleep hard”. The best part about having a senior dog is that they settle down nicely and that is especially true of Callie. She happily follows the command “go lay down”.

While in foster care, Callie has had full run of the entire house and uses a doggie door whenever she wants to go outside. She’s fully house trained and sleeps in our bed at night. Other than a little counter surfing, she has excellent indoor manners.

Callie gets along great with our resident female Brittany. She also has experience attending doggie daycare with 12+ dogs in a session. Daycare folks said she doesn’t like dogs that are too pushy or get in her face – but who does? She can be placed with another social dog or be the sole focus of your attention. She can be vocal (typical Brittany play growl) when playing. Other than that, she’s pretty quiet.

I don’t know if she’s ever been around small children, so I’d recommend a forever family with only older children. Ideally, her new family would have one adult working from home (or maybe a retiree), so she doesn’t have to be left alone too long. Callie jumps like a pogo stick (straight up!), so a secure fence (5’+) is important. While in foster care, she’s shown no interest in digging or escaping our fenced yard.

Callie absolutely loves going on a daily walk and rides well in the car (quietly, either in a crate or free). So, an active family that will include her in daily activities/errands would be great.

No long distance or sight unseen adoptions for this special girl. We feel it is important that all family members (human and canine) meet to assure that we have a good fit. If you want a loving companion, Callie may be the dog for you! Please fill out out the adoption application at www.americanbrittanyrescue.org or http://fs20.formsite.com/brittanyrescue/form10/index.html

History:
Callie was surrendered to ABR because her elderly owner could no longer care for her. She appears to have come from a loving home given her sweet, social personality. Last year she had a couple UTIs, so she is on a special diet (Royal Canin SO – dry dog food) to promote better bladder health. While in foster care, she’s drinking more water and getting consistent potty breaks with no UTI re-occurrence. She is spayed, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative.
