CALLIE's Story

• Would benefit from an experienced owner who can provide consistent positive training • Great for an active lifestyle, would be perfect for an experienced handler • Dog friendly Callie is a young, joyful, wiggly mix who greets every single day and every single person like it's the best thing that has ever happened to her. She is food motivated, fast learning, and so genuinely eager to please that her fosters were sad to bring her back every single time. This girl is loved by everyone who spends real time with her. We'll be honest with you: Callie is a puppy at heart, and she has puppy things to work on. She'll pull toward dogs on leash because she wants to play with them — not fight them. She'll jump up on you because she's excited to see you — not because she's out of control. She'll occasionally grab the leash when she's overwhelmed — and stops the second you stand still and ignore it. These are not red flags. These are normal, trainable puppy behaviors in a dog who already knows sit, already responds to off, and already checks in with her handler on walks. Callie doesn't need an expert. She needs someone consistent, active, and patient — someone who sees a dog with all the right ingredients and wants to help her put it together. With a solid routine and positive reinforcement, she is going to absolutely bloom. Her fosters have seen it firsthand, and they've got the sad drop-off stories to prove it. She is joyful, she is loving, she is ready. Are you?

Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We ask that everyone in the household meet the potential new furry family member. Come look through the profiles of our residents available at our front counter, and walk a dog or play with a cat. We are always happy to answer questions about a pet and help you decide whether he will be a good fit. If you rent, you will need to supply a copy of your lease stating you are allowed to have pets. If you own, you will need to supply proof of home ownership.   Each animal leaves with its first set of shots, dewormer and flea treatment. All animals are spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to going home. All dog adopters receive a $200 credit toward canine training. You will also receive a health exam certificate that entitles you to a free "healthy pet" checkup at a local veterinarian clinic.  FAAS located at the North end of Grand St at 1590 Fortmann Way. Adoption hours are noon-4PM Tuesday through Sunday. (We are closed Mondays.)
