Callie's Story
Callie is a wonderful pup looking for her forever family. She's all around the best girl, super smart, playful, medium energy, very treat motivated, loves to learn, a major snugglebug, does great with other dogs, loves people. I could go on and on!

We're being very picky about who we adopt Callie to. She came to us in 2023 as a sweet tiny puppy picked up on the streets of the Rio Grande Valley. She was adopted to what we thought would be a great dad who wanted a companion to go on adventures with. He rehomed her instead of returning her to our rescue and somehow she ended up on Fort Hood, owned by a military family who was starving her. She was confiscated by animal control, along with another dog from the home, and we got her back. Sadly, there was no real consequence for the animal abuse and the family doesn't seem to think they did anything wrong. We're not a fan of the lax animal abuse laws in TX.

Callie has had a rough go the last few years but she's remained incredibly loving and excited about everything life has to offer. She loves people, including kids. We aren't adopting to families with kids under 6 though. Callie does great with all our dogs, but she may be a bit possessive of toys so will do best with a furry companion who'll let her have the toy or just isn't into toys that much. She'll play tug-of-war and chase with other dogs, she just may decide she wants a particular toy and can be bossy about getting it. Our pups are very chill here so there has never been a fight over a toy.

Callie is crate and house trained. She spent a couple of weeks with a trainer who absolutely loved her. Callie learned every command like a champ. She was able to do "place" in noisy and chaotic environments, walked well on a leash, and was calm when taken out to public places but she did prefer quieter venues where the streets weren't packed with people.

Callie is spayed, vaccinated, on prevention and microchipped. She's all set for her forever family! We're hoping the third times the charm for her and she'll find a home where she's loved and appreciated as much as we love and appreciate her!

We also have a FB page for more photos and information. If you'd like to meet this sweet girl, message us at Happy Tails Ranch Rescue. We'd love to set up a meet n greet!
