Callan ATX's Story

Callan is a Great Pyrenees mix with a soft heart and soulful eyes. He’s a bit of a nervous Nelly at first, but once he warms up, he’s affectionate, loyal, and loves to be near his people.

This sweet boy has been through a lot — he came to us with an old cruciate ligament (CL) injury, but it’s fully healed now, and he’s getting around beautifully.

He does best in a calm, reassuring home where he can build confidence at his own pace. With patience, kindness, and a little routine, Callan will reward you with trust, devotion, and that signature Pyr charm.

His ideal home will also have no (or older) children and a couple of other playful doggos, and people who understand that new situations can be a little intimidating for him and give him the support he needs to experience the GOOD that life has to offer!

Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
Thanks for considering rescue with TGPR! We’ll start by contacting your vet to confirm that all current pets (yes, even cats!) are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm prevention. Next, we’ll reach out to your three personal references to get to know you better and help identify great matches for your lifestyle. If you rent, please let your landlord know we’ll be calling to confirm large dogs are allowed. Then we’ll schedule a home visit, a friendly in-person chat to see your setup and share Pyr tips! Once approved, you’ll be able to connect with fosters to find your perfect match. Approvals are good for a year! And remember: TGPR commits to our dogs for life. If anything ever changes and you can’t keep your Pyr, we’ll always take them back. Let us know if you have any questions. We’re excited to help you find your floof!
