Caliber's Story

Caliber is a six (ish) year old sophisticated dude. He is smart but uses his wits decidedly sparingly (for a husky!) He enjoys a good romp or to go for a ride but equally enjoys laying around for days at a time. He has led a full an varied life already! He came to us after living in multiple apartments with single humans and their roommates- Caliber has battled substance issues (ha!). When we went to rescue him from his last situation, he had moments before devoured an entire pan of pot brownies he stole off the counter of the apartment he was living in. He had ti be hospitalized for three days before coming to live with us. We named him High Caliber (pun intended) after this introduction to him. But we just call him Caliber (a small child who frequents our sanctuary calls him “Caliburger”!)

Caliber needs placement in a new environment ASAP. He has moved down the hierarchy here and is getting bullied by dogs he used to bully, himself. Hard living has left Caliber with all of his sharp canine teeth busted off at the tips- he can now not defend himself well. We are having to constantly keep him safe from any scuffles that might result in his harm. Caliber is safe from harm but because he needs to stay away from most other dogs he’s living a sedentary lifestyle at the moment. He’s gained A LOT of weight

Things to know- caliber is great with children- he’s not interested in them unless they’re holding a snack but he will tolerate their childishness like a champ. Also, small dogs freaking LOVE him. He thinks they’re pretty cute little dudes too. It’s super fun to watch him interact with a little guy- by small, I mean little breeds, not so much puppies. Puppies annoy him.

Please come meet him. You will absolutely fall in love.
