Cali's Story

Meet Cali
Cali is a stunning 4 year old American Bully mix whose life has been filled with challenges, but also incredible resilience. Her journey with Almost Home began after her previous owner passed away, leaving her and three other dogs in the care of a well-meaning father who simply couldn’t provide what they needed.

Cali spent her days in an outdoor kennel and her nights in a crate. Evidence suggests she had at least one litter of puppies. The overcrowded living situation and lack of spay/neuter caused tension among the dogs, leading to conflicts and stress.

When Cali first arrived at Almost Home, she was emotionally shut down. Over time, we watched her slowly open up and show her true, loving spirit. She was adopted two years ago, but sadly returned after her owner moved and could not take her along. Once again, she is feeling overwhelmed and shut down, but we know this brave girl can blossom with the right family.

Cali adores one on one time in the yard with her favorite humans. She thrives on companionship, gentle affection, and patient reassurance.

Given her past, Cali is currently unsure around other dogs. At this time, we feel she would do best as the only dog in the home, though a meet and greet can be arranged. She should also be in a cat-free home. Because she is initially nervous, a home with children 10+ would be ideal.

Cali’s story is one of strength, survival, and hope. Now she needs someone willing to give her the stability, patience, and love she has always deserved.

If you’d like to be part of Cali’s fresh start, please submit an application at AlmostHomeLI.org. Let’s give this beautiful girl the safe and loving home she’s been waiting for.
