Caleb's Story

Caleb is a handsome adventurer who's ready to trade his days of solo exploring for a lifetime of supervised adventures with his very own person!

Caleb was originally picked up as a stray near Mount Airy, NC, so we can only imagine the stories he could tell about his travels through the foothills. These days, he's looking for an active navigator to take the lead on his next chapter-and if you happen to carry treats, you'll earn some serious bonus points.

Caleb is an affectionate guy who enjoys being with his people. He's fully house-trained, rides well in the car, and is food-motivated and eager to please. His basic commands could use a little work-apparently "sit" and "stay" weren't high priorities when he was out gallivanting around the countryside-but with some consistency, tasty rewards, and practice, we think he'll catch on quickly.

When it comes to other dogs, Caleb can be a little socially awkward. He may use warning barks and doesn't always pick up on another dog's cues when they're telling him they've had enough. He currently lives with another dog and they get along much of the time, but sometimes need some guidance and alone time (especially with meals). Caleb will need thoughtful introductions, supervision, and a family willing to help him continue learning appropriate dog-to-dog manners.

What Caleb really needs is structure, patience, exercise, and someone who will channel his adventurous spirit in the right direction. He's already done enough wandering through life on his own. Now he's ready for an adventure buddy who'll make sure the best journeys are the ones they take together
