Cal's Story

ADOPT DON'T SHOP

We have been told that Cal (and his sister May, who is also available and is shown in the second and third photos) is a Cao de Gado Transmontano Mastiff, a breed that originated in Portugal and only recently began to be imported into Oregon (in 1995). This breed is known for their strength, calm nature and strong guardian instincts.

Cal and May were purchased as puppies in Oregon by a couple here in Alturas, CA, but were never used as guardians. The family fell on hard times and had to rehome their dogs, so the High Plateau Humane Society took over their care.

We would like to rehome Cal and May together if possible as they get along well. Both are very easy going, are a little on the submissive side, play well with other dogs and do well with cats.

Their adoption fee is $240 each. They have been altered, microchipped and are up to date on shots. They have also tested negative for heartworm. If you are interested in one or both of these dogs, please contact Jennifer at 530-708-2377 or email HPHS@Ymail.com.
Direct Contact:

Dogs: Jennifer Andersen, Dog Program Manager

(c) 530-708-2377, email: HPHS@Ymail.com

Cats: Cat Program Team

(530) 233-9277, email: hphscatprogram@gmail.com

HPHS supports spay/neutering of all pets.
