Cain's Story

DOB 2-1-2024

Personality: Sweet and Calm

Cain is an outdoor male Great Pyrenees (mix) weighing in at 95 lbs. He is a sensitive boy who walks moderately well on a leash. He does not seem to bark quite as much as is typical for this breed. In line with his size, his bark is loud. Cain, unfortunately, has failed at being a livestock guardian dog (LGD) and is absolutely not appropriate for LGD work. He does go over fences that are approximately 4 feet high. As he continues to grow up, he may decide to try jumping higher fences. He is sweet and does want to please his owner. He needs to be an only pet with a patient, knowledgeable owner who will continue training him to transition to indoor life, or he must have coyote-proof fencing that neither he nor a coyote can overcome. If placed as an outdoor pet, he will require an appropriately sized shelter. A rehoming fee is in place. The owner will also require a veterinarian reference for the potential adopter. Cain is UTD on vaccines (to include rattlesnake vaccine but excluding kennel cough), neutered, microchipped, and had his annual exam in March 2026, at which time 12 months of heartworm and flea/tick medications were purchased. These may go with him at cost. We do not wish to mislead anyone on his abilities or inabilities. We simply wish to present a fair assessment so that the right owner can help him live out the rest of his beautiful years safely and in an abundance of love. He is sweet and will quickly have people falling in love with him, which is why we need to ensure he goes to the right home. For a chance to schedule a time to openly talk, please TEXT 505-450-2744. From there, you will receive a text communication to coordinate a time to chat.
