Side By Side (answers to By By) is a very smart and curious young hound. He likes hanging out with other greyhounds, but as long as there's a human around, he's good to go. No cats, and probably no small dogs, though. They look like something really fun to chase! His foster house doesn't have human kids, but we believe he'd enjoy them as long as they're aware he still has puppy energy and has no idea where the end of his nose or butt are, so he might knock small kids over on accident. He is great at communicating what he needs (or wants), and uses his voice if he needs to, but doesn't make noise just to make noise. He is good either sleeping in a kennel or in his bed near the humans. And while he loves his comfy beds, he doesn't seem motivated to get on the human furniture. <br/><br/>By By loves to do whatever you're doing! Especially if that is cooking. He'll happily taste whatever you're making, even if it's vegetables. (He wanted me to note that he REALLY wants you to share a taste with him!) Peanut butter, apple slices, and squash are current favorites. (He notes: but bananas are the WORST.) <br/><br/>And he loves going on walks! He is young and so new from the track, he will need more practice to get fully comfortable with being on a leash. He's well mannered and eager to please, but there are SO MANY new things to look at, smell, and hear, he still gets easily distracted. He really likes meeting new people in the neighborhood, even if they think they're busy doing yard work or loading their car. <br/><br/>He injured his front right paw on the track and will limp for a few steps if it's stiff after he's been sleeping for a bit. But it doesn't seem to slow him down or bother him once he gets a big stretch in. He doesn't seem to notice or be put off by "slippery" floors! Unlike most greyhounds, he prefers to NOT wear clothes even when it's cold out! <br/><br/>If you want a smart hound that will rapidly learn the ropes and a few tricks, who will keep up with an active lifestyle, but is happy to have a lazy cuddly day if you want, By By is the hound for you! <br/><br/>This dog is being fostered in the Des Moines Area. We do not ship dogs. This fee pays for medical costs including spay/neuter surgery, shots, parasite treatments, teeth cleaning, microchip and microchip registration fee. Each dog also comes with a special sighthound collar and leash set and muzzle. There is a $30 non-refundable application fee.
