Buttons - Blind Shih Tzu's Story
Buttons came in to rescue when both her owners were experiencing health issues. They had her since she was a puppy so you can imagine how heartbreaking it was for them to surrender her. We promised we would find the best home for her and that's where you come in!
Buttons has lost approximately 95% of her vision, but you'd hardly know it - she navigates her space with confidence and doesn't let it slow her down one bit.
She's not quite 13 years old and about 11 pounds.
Buttons is wonderfully independent, but she does love being in the same room as her person. She's not a velcro dog - but rather someone who likes company nearby while she does her own thing. What's her own thing? Why napping of course! She loves a soft bed, or two, and will happily snooze the day away.
The one thing that gets her going is an afternoon walk. She's awesome on her walk!
While Buttons does well with the dogs in her foster home; any new dogs will need to be older and calm - young, rambunctious dogs will not be considered.
If you're looking for an easygoing companion that doesn't require more than a soft bed, a daily walk and the occasional treat then Buttons is your gal!
*Housetraining: Uses potty pads and will also go outside
*Crate trained: No
*Cats: Have not been tested, however she would most likely be fine with cats that are good with dogs.
*The less steps in and out of the house the better for this super senior!

Buttons is spayed and will have her dental on October 1, 2026. We expect her to lose some teeth as they were never cleaned prior.
She will be updated on any age related vaccines the same day as her dental.

If you are interested or have any questions please send an email to: seniorsrocksdr@gmail.com

Meet and greets are scheduled after an adoption application has been approved.

*We are a foster based organization - we do not have a public facility for viewing.

If you live in Northern Illinois and are interested; we will consider your application if you are within 150 miles of zip code 53051.
