He is intelligent and kind, Butters can be a little shy on first meet, but once he settles in he loves you wholeheartedly. We just love his enthusiasm for life! He loves playing with his other kind dog friends, and wandering around the yard or palling around with his people. When Butters first joined us he had a habit of jumping on people and grabbing hands for attention. He no longer does this in his foster home but will need a home that has the training skills and desire to continue to hold those boundaries for him as well as further his training. He does have a high interest in collecting objects that don't belong to him, those objects can vary from dish towels, to cans, to clothes, etc. He may or may not destroy his collectibles if not supervised. He strives for attention, is active, and due to his past of jumping and the size of his feet/weigh behind his jumps, we are seeking a teen and up or adult only home for him. His new family will want to continue his training and have no problem setting and holding boundaries for him that will enable him to thrive. We do not consider him a hypoallergenic dog in any way and we don't feel he is cat friendly so we are looking for a cat free home. He crates well and is quiet in his crate. He has the basset/dachshund type front leg anatomy, and one of his front legs is overly twisted. This doesn't slow him down while running and playing, but may cause some discomfort if he over extends himself. Because of this he may not be a massive hiking or running dog without adaptations. We also are unsure what the long term prognosis on this will be. We love this little dude and are excited to find him his forever home!

Most of our dogs, including Butters, require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. Typically, the fence must be connected to the house/ a door in the home, and the dog safe fenced area must exclude driveway and car access. Shock/electronic fences will not be approved for most dogs. A sturdy, high quality crate is also required (due to safety concerns, no wire or soft crates will be accepted. Impact, Ruffland, 4 point contact locking door Skyline, Zinger Winger, etc type crate). We will be considering homes in W. Wa and possibly Oregon, no other out of state adoptions at this time. Adoption donation is $400.00 to help cover his transport, vaccines, daily care, food, etc.

THIS DOG IS IN FOSTER CARE IN POULSBO, WA.
