Buster's Story

Meet Buster!
Buster is a 5 year old, 15 lbs, Chihuahua mix (Pug if we had to guess). This handsome guy is a cat trapped inside a dogs body. Let’s break down Buster by species, shall we?
The cat traits: Loves pets, cuddling, and affection from a select few that have earned his trust. Couches are clearly for his pleasure, as is your bed. You can have the counters — they’re of no interest to him. Think you’re in charge? You’re wrong. He is. Unless you have treats, then his wish is your command. Sunbathing by the window — THIS is the cat’s meow. Free roam trustworthy – as most cats are. Unsolicited affection? Well, that’s a big fat nope. Are you a love bomber? 👎🏻Also not gonna work. Buster is looking for a savvy human big on boundaries and mutual respect.
The dog traits: Crate trained – but remember his cat like tendencies and know this may take bribery. House trained (not in a stupid box like the feline counter parts). Leashed walks are fun! Excellent in a car!

Buster is a man with a little baggage and his forever human should be understanding of his past. His prior owner died and he found himself alone and super scared in a loud and busy shelter. He traveled to CO and has been adjusting to his new life in foster care after his world was turned upside down. Things like eye contact and unsolicited attention from strangers make him feel threatened and very afraid. He’s big into body autonomy which is contrary to his adorable pint sized appearance. Buster’s kryptonite is treats and he is so amazing with positive counter conditioning because of it. He’s a quick study and will gladly allow you to grow from foe to friend with the assistance of some soul food. Buster is good with dogs and happily shares his home with canine friends. He’d also be happy being the kind of the castle.

Buster is in foster in Mead, Colorado.

*We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. *

You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/buster

You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.
