Handsome, happy Burt is a 2-year old, 40# Border Collie mix with a tail that never stops wagging. He is affectionate, playful, and eager to please. Burt thrives on being close to his humans, following them from room to room, always ready to join in whatever’s happening with joyful enthusiasm. He is looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home.<br/><br/>He has medium-plus energy and likes to stay active with his people. Whether it’s his ball, stuffed animal, chew bone, or simply the scent of the outdoors, Burt finds delight in life’s little pleasures. He’s also a cuddle bug who melts with affection and lives to make his person smile.<br/><br/>Burt is crate-trained, housebroken, and walks on leash. Like many herding dogs, moving things catch his attention: he responds well to redirection. He rides well in the car, settles in the house and loves to learn (especially when treats are involved).<br/><br/>He’s best suited for an active family that lives in a quieter environment - a rural setting or low-key suburb is ideal. Herding breed experience and a fenced space to play in are preferred. He doesn’t need a canine sibling, though he would enjoy the company of a friendly canine. Burt lived with cats in the past. Older kids that enjoy playing fetch would be his best friends in no time. He continues to work on nice manners, and needs to lose some weight after a cold winter. <br/><br/>Burt is a loyal, loving companion who will stick by your side through every adventure. HOABCR provides all necessary supplies, food, and pays any medical expenses. Foster families are asked to provide a safe, loving environment for the dog and are welcome to adopt after a period of allowing the dog to settle in their home.<br/><br/>As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.<br/><br/>Burt's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
