Buddy AKA Boogie's Story

Hi, my name is Buddy, and I am a playful character! My foster mom loves me so much but wants to see me get a family that has the energy to keep up with me! I am still a young guy who would benefit from the training I did not get as a pup. I am the sweetest boy you will ever meet, and I have settled a lot since getting to Wisconsin from Texas. I do need work on a leash as I am a strong puller. I would play with my canine friends 24/7 if I could. I am good at getting my foster brother up playing and off the couch. I can get protective over my food or toys if other dogs or cats come near so I have been having meals in my crate. I also like to go in there sometimes to have my own space, though if I get locked in there, it doesn't take long before I fuss to get out. I have only chewed on my toys and understand that people things are off limits.

I am not one of those dogs who signals to go out potty but mom says I do well when I get to go out frequently. At night I have free roam of the house. I do usually pick to sleep with mom. I would be best with a fenced yard and room to run. I like people, but my foster mom suggests kids 14 or older, as I am a big bouncy boy that can knock someone over. I am also mouthy when I play and would not want to hurt someone accidentally. I am living with cats, but I want to play rough with them as well and don't really understand that doesn't work out, so no cats would be safer for everyone. I am smart and able to learn if someone would have the time to work with me. Foster mom taught me about give-me-paw and now I feel ready for a forever family interview. I am also learning the word "no" and how things work at my foster home. It's just hard sometimes because I am such a happy, playful boy and being good takes focus.

My mom will be sad to see me leave but knows there is a home out there for me that can better keep up with a spritely fella like myself. She wants to see me live life to the fullest. If the home for me might also be your home, please fill out the application under the Adoption heading at www.bassetbuddiesrescue.org where you can also find out more information about Basset Buddies Rescue and what happens next.

Basset Buddies Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c )(3) not-for-profit organization and all donations are used expressly for the welfare of the dogs and most are tax deductible (please contact your tax adviser for more information).
