Buddy's Story

Buddy was surrendered to rescue because his owners were not able to contain him. He was wandering to the neighbor's and they were threatening to shoot him. Thank goodness Buddy is now safe in a foster home!

3-4 year old Buddy arrived at his foster home in early December and he is adjusting to a new environment. Handsome Buddy is a gentle, sweet soul. He loves pets and attention. After some contemplation, he jumped up on the bed for the first time so he could be next to his foster mom. Buddy would love a canine companion in his furever home and would be great around older kids.

Buddy is:
Potty trained
Leash trained
Good with cats
Good with dogs
Good with people
Very sweet/affectionate
Calm, low energy/activity level
Takes treats gently
Sleeps through the night
Rides well in the car
Easy to train, responds well to verbal correction

Buddy weighs about 70 lbs and needs to gain some weight. Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri's Adoption Policy
Applicants must have a secure and visible fence and children in the home must be 12 or older. In order for your application to be approved, you must also pass a home check and a vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history. All of our dogs can be adopted in Missouri and surrounding states that we are currently able to transport to: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arkansas. Our adoption fees are: Dogs 1 year and older: $450 Puppies under 1 year: $500 All of our rescued pyrs are fully vetted prior to adoption, spayed/neutered (dogs over 6 months), microchipped, up-to-date on immunizations, and up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our available dogs you are interested in adopting. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific dog, nor does it obligate you to adopt. Once we have received your application and determined if you are a good match for the dog you are interested in, a representative from our adoption team will contact you to go over our process in its entirety. From there, we will put you in contact with the foster parent, so you may set up a meet and greet with the dog, in person when possible or video chat if that isn't an option. Before adopting, keep in mind that many of our dogs prior to being rescued and placed in foster homes have never lived inside a home. Some dogs may never have been walked on a leash, socialized, house-trained or spent time with other animals. Our fosters work with these dogs on many of these issues to prepare them for their furever homes, but these dogs will still need patience and understanding as they learn to adapt when they come to you. Rescued dogs need adopters who will not give up on them if they have accidents in the house, pull on the leash, dig in the yard, or act nervous or frightened. An adoption will be successful only if the adopter is committed to seeing the dog through the adjustment period. The rewards are the unconditional love and loyalty of a wonderful companion, and the satisfaction of knowing you have given a rescued dog a better life. If at any time after adoption, you decide you cannot keep the pet for any reason, the dog must be returned to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri.
