Buddy's Story

Meet Buddy, a 1-2 year old, 65-pound farm dog mix who is equal parts gentle giant, playful goofball, and professional shadow.

If you are looking for a dog who believes personal space is highly overrated, Buddy may be your guy. He is incredibly loving and snuggly and wants to be wherever his people are. He will happily use you as a pillow, nudge you with his nose or paw when the pets stop too soon, and if you start giving belly rubs, make sure you dont have anywhere you need to be for a while.

Buddy is a pretty quiet boy overall, although he does have an impressive big, deep bark. When meeting someone new, he may bark while he is figuring you out, so dont let that big voice catch you off guard. Give him a little time to get to know you, and before long he will be following you from room to room.

He absolutely loves other dogs and quickly made a best friend in his foster home. The two of them chase, wrestle, run around the yard at full speed, and then settle down to snuggle together. Buddy also reads other dogs well and is respectful when his foster brother tells him hes had enough.

Buddy loves toys, especially balls and rope toys. Fetch hasnt quite clicked yet, but he is happy to bring you his toys. He also has a funny habit of carrying his fosters shoes from one room to another, only to lie down next to them. He isnt destructive and doesnt chew things up, but he is still a young dog with some puppy-like curiosity. His current work in progress is learning that the kitchen counters are not actually a buffet.

Buddy is house trained and learned his foster homes routine very quickly. He had only a couple of accidents while figuring out that instead of waiting for a walk like he likely did in his previous apartment, he should head to the back door. He also figured out his foster homes screen doggy door with no problem.

At night, Buddy is happy to come to bed with you for some snuggles, but eventually he decides the cool floor is the better sleeping spot.

He rides well in the car and is getting more comfortable hopping in on his own. He is smart, learns quickly, and has adapted really well to life in his foster home.

Buddy is a sweet, affectionate young dog who loves having both people and dog friends in his life. He has plenty of goofy young-dog personality left, but he is also happy to settle down, snuggle up, and just be near his people.

Buddy is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his DA2PP, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, and Rabies vaccines. He has been fecal tested, heartworm tested, is current on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention, and has been veterinarian checked healthy.

Buddys adoption fee is $575.

His adoption fee helps cover the cost of his veterinary care, training, grooming, food, supplies, and daily care while he is in rescue. As a small nonprofit, adoption fees also help us continue rescuing other dogs in need.

To apply to adopt Buddy, visit www.barkindogs.org.
