Buddy's Story
~The Life of a Senior Shelter Dog~

While I have no idea what the new Taylor Swift album actually entails beyond the title, I can say with almost absolute certainty that the little life of a senior shelter dog is a far cry from that glitz and glam, but deserves just as much time in the spotlight .

And so we are debuting our newest Senior Shelter Dog, Buddy. Yeah, he’s real. And yeah, he’s that handsome in real life.

Buddy came to us last week-12 years old, skin and nails a mess, not a single vet visit to his name, and so confused on how he ended up in a shelter surrounded by 1,000,000 cats- but was still somehow the sweetest little gentleman , allowing himself to be pushed around by our tiniest 2lb kitten without so much as batting an eye.

At his vet appointment, we learned he has a heart murmur (not unsurprising given he’s a tiny senior with bad teeth and having subsisted on a diet of table scraps), cataracts starting to limit his vision, but pretty ok bloodwork. We’ll take our wins where we can!

As we tried to help Buddy adjust to shelter life, we discovered that this sweet boy sang the saddest ballad ever heard (T. Swift could never) when he was left alone -and who could blame him?? Though he eventually would settle down, leaving each night wrecked us, and so a heroic foster family stepped up and has this to say:

“Meet your new best Buddy! This silly guy is full of personality and guaranteed to keep you smiling. He LOVES being outside—walks are his absolute favorite—and he’s a total pro on the leash. After a little adventure, he’s all about the snuggles. Bedtime? He’ll curl up right next to you, burrowed completely under the blankets like the little cuddle-bug he is. He’s wonderful with kids, totally unbothered by other pets (he currently shares his home with three cats and politely ignores them), and has a heart bursting with loyalty. The only thing he doesn’t love? Being left alone—he’d much rather be your shadow, sticking close and showering you with love. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, walk-loving snuggle buddy who will be your ride-or-die, this boy is ready to trot his way right into your heart.”

So who’s ready to give this guy his chance? Give him his time to shine? His chance to sing a different tune? And change the life of senior shelter dog?
