Buddy's Story
Meet Buddy!

Buddy is a handsome 2 ½ -year-old Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds. This smart, affectionate boy loves nothing more than curling up next to you on the couch after a good play session with his favorite tennis ball.

Buddy is house-trained, knows some basic commands, and is eager to please. He’s not kennel-trained — he would prefer sleeping in the bed, right where he belongs. Like many Aussies, he’s intelligent, alert, and sometimes a little too adventurous — so a securely fenced yard is a must for this explorer at heart.

He gets along fine with cats (though he may enjoy a playful chase now and then) and would do best with older children. Buddy prefers not to share his space with strong-willed, alpha dogs, and smaller pups might get accidentally bowled over in play. He would also be perfectly happy as the only dog in the home, soaking up all the love and attention for himself. If there are other dogs in the household, it’s best to feed Buddy separately—he has a tendency to enjoy helping himself to his friends’ meals too!

Buddy isn’t a fan of vet visits and may need to be muzzled for everyone’s comfort and safety, but he’s otherwise a very good boy who just needs understanding and patience during those times. While Buddy already knows some commands, he would benefit from continued training to help him build confidence and strengthen his bond with his new family.

Buddy does like to “talk” now and then—he’ll bark at things like large trucks or school buses passing by—so an apartment or townhome setting wouldn’t be the best fit for him. A single-family home with a fenced yard where he can stretch, play, and express himself would make him happiest.

Buddy is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and ready to find a forever family who understands and appreciates the loyal, energetic spirit of his breed.

If you’re looking for a bright, loving companion who’ll keep you smiling and your heart full, Buddy might just be your perfect match. ??

If interested, please reach out to his foster for more information or to arrange a meet and greet!

If you think Buddy is the one for you or if you have any questions about him, please reach out to his foster, Lisa at
junkin_queen@yahoo.com

Adoption Fee: $450 (cash or card)

Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal's background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog's personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. There are great articles out there written about the different stages a pet goes through after adoption; discussing transitions that happen at 3 days, 3 weeks, & 3 months. We highly recommend reading about this - it will help you understand the transition your new pet goes through.

Last Hope, Inc. is an all volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11am - 2pm at Apple Valley Petco (corner of Cedar Avenue and County Road 42)

Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children.

The Adoption Fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals!

CAN YOU FOSTER? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office @ mail@last-hope.org and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you! You can also apply to be a foster home on our webpage! In the upper left hand corner there’s a drop down tab with the link for canine foster home. Just fill it out online & submit! We will get back to you as quick as we can.
