BUDDY's Story

My name is Buddy and I am a brown & white chihuahua sh. I am an intact male (I will be neutered before I am adopted) and I am 2 years old. I am here because I was given up by my owner on 05/15/2026 due to the fact my owner was not able to afford to take care of me. They were my family for 1-3 months. They got me from my previous person, who was an elderly man who had to go to a nursing home. I am used to staying inside during the day and inside during the night. I am still learning how to be potty trained. Once the shelter takes care of my neuter surgery, that will help a lot. Little dogs like me just need some consistency and someone who's around a lot because we have itty bitty bladders. I am a medium energy dog and I can live with an owner with no prior pet owning experience. I am used to staying in crates when I am alone or need to be safely contained. I generally walk nicely on the leash but will pull/tug if I see something or someone I want to check out. I would do well with simple obedience training to help us bond and for us to learn how to communicate with each other. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home or yard, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally get out a door or escape the yard. I do not need a fenced yard, it's always nice be nice to have one so I can run free in a safe space! I can be good with men, women, and children. and I can be good with other dogs.
