Buddy's Story

Meet Buddy – your very own ray of eternal sunshine

At 12 years young and 39 pounds, Buddy is a happy-go-lucky Cocker Spaniel mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never seems to stop wagging. He joined us from a nearby shelter and is ready to trade shelter life for a comfy couch, leisurely strolls, and a family to call his own.

Buddy is a special guy because he's blind. While he can detect some light, he mostly relies on his other amazing senses—and you! He happily follows the sound of your voice on walks and is wonderful on a leash. Need to navigate a curb or a bump? Buddy is more than happy to let you gently guide him along. He's proof that you don't need perfect eyesight to enjoy life's adventures.

Speaking of adventures... Buddy has a small goal: achieving his "beach body" before summer waves goodbye. A few extra walks and a little exercise will help him slim down, and he's more than willing to make that journey with you. Every walk is another chance to sniff the world, hear the birds, and spend time with his favorite person.

Buddy doesn't ask for much in life. He just wants someone to love him. In return, he'll reward you with endless devotion, a cheerful spirit, and the kind of companionship only a grateful senior dog can give.

He's shown great potential with other dogs, but as always, a meet-and-greet is required to ensure everyone gets along. Compatibility with cats and young children is unknown, so older children are preferred. Because Buddy navigates the world differently, experience with blind dogs would be a wonderful bonus. A fenced in yard is also preferred.

Buddy is available through our Foster-to-Adopt Program, which means you can welcome him home now while he completes his vetting with the shelter. He'll receive his vaccines, microchip, neuter surgery, and everything he needs to begin his new life safe, healthy, and loved.

If you're ready to add your own personal ray of eternal sunshine to your family, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and submit an online dog adoption application for Buddy. Buddy's adoption fee is $85. Sometimes the sweetest new beginning comes with a gray muzzle and a wagging tail.
