Buddy's Story

Buddy is going to need a special family with time and patience to help him love his best life. He is currently making the transition from a stud dog to being a companion pet. He is a very large sheltie and currently weighs 32 pounds but needs to be more around 36 or 38. He is very sweet and when you do go to put a leash on him, he is vert timid and quite the shrinking violet. He does know how to walk on the leash, but gets scared and distracted if there is a lot of activity going on around him. He really needs someone who is familiar with leash bonding or helping very fearful dogs come around and can help build his self confidence. He does like other dogs and has been particularly interested in the girlies. He is currently going in and out into a fenced yard on his own, but sometimes his foster mom has to step away from the door to get him to come back inside. He is a good eater and we are working on getting some weight on his frame and he also tested positive for Lyme and is currently in the middle of his treatment. Right now we aren't making too many demands of him and are just allowing him to settle in and decompress. If you are familiar with the anxious nature some shelties can have and are willing to work with him, Buddy will be a wonderful companion pet when he understands that is what he is now allowed to be. If you are interested, email iPAWinc2022@gmail.com for an application or more information.
