Buddy

Hi, I'm Buddy! I'm a big, handsome 3 year old guy and weigh about 80 lbs. My current friends think I'm most likely a GSD/Malinois combo. I'm not Malinois working dog crazy energy but I do have a good amount to burn and will need lots of walks, runs, hikes, play, adventures and car rides, I love car rides. I walk fairly well on leash, but I do pull pretty hard at times, especially when I need to smell that perfect tree or bush or blade of grass—I'm working on it! <br/><br/>I'm pretty cool around other dogs. I do occasionally bark at another dog but I don't get carried away. I'm a pretty friendly boy and have been meeting lots of new people HOWEVER, I do kind of prefer girl humans. For reasons unknown, boy humans make me just a bit nervous when I'm asked to meet them. I'm ok once I get to know them though. I do great going into stores, walking through people (girls and boys), taking treats, traffic isn't scarey, etc. <br/><br/>I would prefer a gentle but confident leader—someone who can guide me firmly without being too harsh. I'm a big, active boy but I am also kind of sensitive. I've been ok around kids but not sure how I would be around really young carpet crawlers. When we are playing and I get a little rambunctious, I can get just a little mouthy (it's the maligator thing) but it's just because I'm having so much fun. This is not a behavior for little ones, though. <br/><br/>I am a TOTAL squirrel fiend—chasing them is my favorite sport! If I spot one, I want to chase, I can't help it. If I could climb a tree I think I would. That said, I'm definitely not a cat or small critter guy! Small dogs have been ok but the prey drive is definitely there. <br/><br/>I'm a smart boy and already know my basics. My recall still needs work, but don't worry—I'm not a runner. What I really want is to bond deeply with my person or family. I'll be loyal and devoted, and the bestest boy. It's important that my new family helps me learn and likes to train smart dogs like me. I will be an epic companion but I"m not the best fit for someone that doesn't want to teach me!!! <br/><br/>You like this dog...now what?
