He came to us after his beloved owner passed away, and sadly, none of her five children were able to take him. Losing his person has been a big adjustment for this senior boy.

Bucky is deaf, but he adapts well by watching your movements and learning routine. Deaf dogs do wonderfully with consistency, hand signals, and a patient home.

It’s important to know Bucky is timid. He is not a lap dog and does not enjoy being held or fussed over. He does not seek out touch and prefers his space. However, he will quietly stay by your side. He finds comfort in presence rather than physical affection. He’s the kind of companion who shares the room with you, follows you gently, and simply wants to belong — without being overwhelmed.

Bucky would thrive in:
• A calm, quiet home
• Patient adopters who respect his boundaries
• A predictable routine
• A securely fenced yard (helpful for deaf dogs)

He is looking for someone who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles. Sometimes it looks like quiet loyalty, soft footsteps behind you, and a steady presence nearby.

If you can offer patience, stability, and understanding, Bucky may be the gentle companion you’ve been waiting for.

Apply here: https://rainbowbridgerescue.org/applications/

Come meet him in Middlesex, NC.
