Buckie's Story

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

**Please read Buckie's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!**

The buck stops here, partner! Or does it? Meet Buckie, a 2-year-old Beagle, weighing 40 pounds (as of 1/7/26). This lovable guy is from North Carolina and was surrendered due to a combination of breakups (his humans, not him) and traveling jobs (again, his humans, not him). While Buckie will appreciate the love and care he received, he can't wait to start a new life in New England with you!

Buckie's had a very active home with lots of love, kids and dogs as playmates. This adorable butterball will thrive in an active family that's looking for a dog to match their frenzied lifestyle (especially as he tries to cut more weight)! He especially LOVES kids, so if you've got an outrageous amount of kids that TLC would turn into a reality show, Buckie is all in! Bonus points if you've got cats since Buckie's great with them too!

Buckie is described by his foster as a comical and friendly "Curious George" because he's always following his nose to that weird smell that he just can't pinpoint. Could it be your dirty laundry that's been sitting in a pile for months? Or the pepperoni pizza that's growing mold under your couch? Whatever it is, Buckie is on the case!

He's also good on a leash and has gotten used to lying in an open crate when he's not out in the yard playing with other dogs. Buckie rides great in a car and will even watch you as you drive to make sure you're following traffic laws. He might not know obedience commands yet, but he does know when you have the right of way. What a guy!

Buckie can't wait to meet his new family and hopes that will be you! Adopt him today!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

To adopt or learn more about Buckie, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $495] **

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.

Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
