Bubba Bear Best Boy's Story
Bubba is one of those dogs that made all of us all look around and wonder… how is he not already someone’s dog? He is that good! Listening to his foster talk about him it is easy to know that he is a good one. Soft, steady, easy to live with, and just the right amount of playful to keep life fun without ever creating chaos. At about 1.5 years old and 47 lbs, this maybe-shepherd-heeler mix (rescue rules mean we cannot guarantee age or breed) has settled beautifully into foster life and seems to have already mastered the art of being a really, really good dog.

Go watch Bubba Bear Best Boy on YouTube, then come right back to read more.

Bubba is currently living with two spicy chihuahuas, six cats (yes, six), and regular visits from grandbabies who adore him… and the feeling is absolutely mutual. He’s incredibly tolerant, gentle with little ones, and has the kind of patience that makes everyone around him feel at ease. He doesn’t just “handle” a busy home, he blends into it like he’s always belonged there. Whether it’s tiny dogs, curious cats, or kids who want to love on him, Bubba meets the moment with a calm, kind, gentle spirit.

At home, he is a dream. He has wonderful house manners, is trusted free roaming, and he has settled into being respectful and reliable. He walks nicely on leash, responds well to gentle correction, and carries himself with a quiet confidence that makes him easy to guide and easy to love. His energy level is that sweet middle ground… happy to engage, happy to settle, never demanding.

With other dogs, Bubba leans more on the submissive, respectful side. He greets politely, keeps things low-pressure, and is perfectly content coexisting without needing to be the life of the party. Interestingly, his playful side shows up most with cats… he was caught play-bowing and gently trying to engage with our rescue cat, which is about as endearing as it sounds.

One thing to note is that Bubba does form a bond with his person and can show a little bit of worry when they leave, especially in new environments. He handles stress well overall and bounces back quickly. Naturally, he will thrive in a home that offers a bit of consistency, reassurance, and a steady routine while he is building confidence in a new home.

Bubba is simply a good, kind dog. He doesn’t need a big sales pitch, his presence speaks for itself. He’s easygoing, affectionate without being overwhelming, and brings a sense of calm warmth wherever he goes.

If you’ve been hoping for a well-rounded dog who just fits… Bubba is exactly who you are looking for!

Apply today to bring Bubba home! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69f23168e81bc9795b0c7e04

Questions?
