Brutus's Story

**BRUTUS HAS BEEN WAITING... AND WAITING...**
Brutus came to WAG in one of the saddest ways imaginable - **tied to a fence on a busy road and abandoned**. No goodbye. No explanation. Just a confused, gentle soul wondering why the people he trusted never came back.
That was **over two years ago**... and Brutus is *still* waiting for someone to choose him.
Brutus is a **mixed breed**, about **65+ pounds**, **born approximately 1/2020**, and despite everything he's been through, he is **one of the sweetest, most loving boys you'll ever meet**. He absolutely adores people and lights up every time he gets attention. Making new friends? His specialty.
Unfortunately, Brutus has been dealt a rough hand medically. He has a **GI autoimmune disease** that also affects his skin, along with a knee that can bother him. But here's the beautiful part - **his conditions are well managed**, and through it all, Brutus has kept the **kindest, happiest temperament**.
He takes medication and gets regular antifungal baths... and guess what?
**HE LOVES BATH TIME.**
So much that we gave him his **own soaker tub**, and now he puts *himself* in it to soak. He splashes. He relaxes. He looks at you like it's the best day of his life. It's honestly one of the sweetest things you'll ever see. We're convinced he'd be in heaven with a kiddie pool of his own.
Brutus is a **snuggle champion**. Couch naps are his favorite pastime. He walks great on a leash (though he is a big, strong boy and needs a capable handler). He LOVES car rides - sees a car and immediately tries to climb in because adventures are his thing.
But here's the part that hurts the most:
**Brutus has never known life in a home.**
He doesn't quite know how to "be a dog" in a family yet... but he wants to learn so badly. He just needs someone **patient, kind, and compassionate** to show him what love looks like inside four walls.
Because of his medical needs, adoption can be hard - and we know that. That's why **WAG is open to a permanent medical foster**, where WAG would continue covering his medical expenses. A foster-to-adopt option is also available. We are committed to Brutus - now we just need someone to open their heart.
Brutus doesn't need perfect.
He just needs **peace, love, stability, and snuggles**.
He needs someone to finally say, *"You're home now."*
If you think you could be that person - even just to meet him - please reach out to WAG via **Facebook, IM, or call 352-528-9888**.
**Brutus's heart has never given up. Please don't make him wait any longer.**
