Brutus's Story

Brutus came to WAG after being tied to a fence on a busy road and abandoned. He is a medium sized height (but large sized weight now ;)) and is a mixed breed weighing just over 65 pounds and almost 6 years old (1/2025). He is the sweetest boy and just loves attention. He absolutely loves people and loves to make new friends! He has been with us 2 years now and we are hoping to give him a home of his very own finally. He deserves to live with peace, love and snuggles!

Poor Brutus has been dealt a rough hand. He has had to deal with some medical issues that are all being well medically managed at this point. He has a GI autoimmune disease that unfortunately also affects his skin. He takes medication and takes regular antifungal baths for these issues, which he actually LOVES! Sweet Brutus also has a knee that bothers him on a regular basis. However, with medication and regular, monitored exercise he does much better. Luckily, he continues to have a sweet, wonderful temperament throughout his illnesses. He absolutely LOVES his bathtime and ADORES a bath so much that we gave him a soaker tub of his very own in his kennel, he will now put himself into the tub to soak!! It's the cutest thing to see! I just know he'd love a pool to soak in. He even plays by splashing the water over his back!

If you need some snuggles, this is your guy! If you want someone to take with you on adventures, Brutus is your boy! He does great on a leash, however, is a big, strong boy, so will require a strong dog handler. He sees my car, and he gets so excited, pulling to try to get into it!! He loves car rides and any adventure! His favorite spot at WAG is on the couch to take a nap! Brutus is going to need a patient and kind, compassionate adopter who will help him acclimate to a home setting. He has never had this in his life. He doesn't know how to be a dog in a home but would love to learn.

He would benefit greatly from being a foster dog for someone. We understand that he is hard to adopt due to his multiple medical issues and for that reason WAG is prepared to look for a permanent medical foster home for Brutus, so that WAG can continue to cover his medical expenses. However, an adopter is always preferred, in which case we can always do a foster to adopt situation for him also. He just needs a kind, patient, interested person to come and meet him. His personality will win anyone over! If you're interested in meeting sweet Brutus, please contact WAG via Facebook, IM or call us at 352-528-9888.
