Brutus*'s Story

Meet Brutus! Though it may not look like it, his name is very fitting. We tried changing it, but he always came running when he heard it, so it stuck! He is your typical, lovable lab. Brutus is house trained and working on crate training. He does fine if he knows you are close, but if left alone, will bark. Half of the time he will fall asleep. He knows sit, paw, and come. We are working on leash and door manners, along with not jumping on people. He is so gentle about it though, that everyone thinks it's cute! When he gets excited he pulls on a leash and may try to push out the door, but when calm does very well. As eager as he is to be with you, will just as equally sit in protest if he does not want to move. Though he does not engage much with other dogs, he gets along well with them, and is a little too interested in the cat. When anxious he will hop a gate and if left alone, will chew up cardboard. Loud noises and thunderstorms don't bother him. He is normally very low energy and loves attention. He is not into toys, but would cuddle and receive pets all day long if he could! Brutus would do well as a solo dog for someone who is home often, but better with a companion pup if left alone during the day.
