Bruno's Story

Despite rumors you may have heard, we do indeed need to talk about Bruno. This adorable boy has been with us for a while now, and we are really surprised no one has

taken him home yet! Read below for more info

Ok, so Bruno is an elder gentleman. WE KNOW, 10 years old sounds ancient, and if he were a Great Dane or a big hound we could understand why that might be a turn off. But listen, LISTEN, even though Bruno looks bigger in photos, he's only 20lbs! So he's like, an upper-middle aged terrier mix. Bruno has the energy of a 2 year old dog. We promise, you'll get tired of throwing the ball wayyyyy before he gets tired of chasing it. He loves to walk, he loves to play tug-a-war with rope toys, and HE LOVES BALLS (despite not having any). The best thing about Bruno though, is that even with all that energy, he's still super mellow and is just happy to be with humans. He's just as happy to hang out with you on the couch as he is to go for a walk, and would make an amazing companion!

Here are all his plusses:

• Totally house trained

• Dog friendly (with proper intro)

• Kid friendly (lived with 9y/o & 2 y/o)

• Not destructive in the house!

• Very food motivated

• Has some cool tricks!!

• Neutered and UTD on vaccines

• No adoption fee

Bruno's not perfect, but who among us, right? He can't be with cats or other small animals. Like so many terriers, he has a high prey drive. Also, he's a bit of a gremlin on leash. Bruno needs about 5 minutes to warm up to most people and then he'll be your best friend. He prefers meeting new friends, dog or human, off-leash.

He's being fostered with other dogs, has been a very easy houseguest, and sleeps nicely in bed with his foster family. Bruno is healthy and happy, and would really love a home of his own for the holidays.

While there is NO ADOPTION FEE for Bruno, any applicant would still need to submit an application to make sure it's a good fit.
12/6/25 8:13 AM

Homeward Bound Adoptions CT, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
We take the time to make sure the adopter is truly a good candidate by checking veterinary references as well as personal references. If they rent or are in a situation where there may be pet policies we confirm that it's okay for them to adopt a dog. We take time interviewing the adopter and make sure the dog they are looking for is a good fit for their family. Our goal is not to adopt to the first adopter but to make sure they are the best fit for the dog and visa versa. We have trainers to do meet and greets with their dogs and require the entire family is present to make sure all are on board. We do not adopt sight unseen but make sure there is a true connection.
