Bruno's Story

Bruno is a very handsome boy who has matured into a hunk of a guy. He's approximately 4 to 5 yrs old and has a charming, sweet personality. He does well with lots of exercise, a routine he can count on, and clear, consistent expectations. His home must be experienced with Rottweilers or large, working dogs similar to this breed. He is protective of his things and while he doesn't like to share, Bruno has a lot of love to give to someone who understands and respects his boundaries. Read on to find out more about him!

Bruno needs a savvy home who can offer fun experiences, both mental and physical, and who understands the benefits of being proactive in managing his environment. He requires an adopter with no children as his protective nature will kick in if put in a position of believing he needs to compete for a treasured item. Children tend to be impulsive rather than proactive thinkers and we wouldn't want to chance a mistake. Bruno has been working with a trainer who has routinized the management of the protectiveness. These are simple, common-sense methods that have proven to be successful and that Bruno is both comfortable with and respects. The product is a relaxed, sweet boy.

Bruno has actually completed the training program but is remaining with the trainer to continue reinforcement of what he has learned. He enjoys his time there and participates in the many activities offered. In the program, he does well engaging with other dogs, as well as coexisting on group walks no matter who is on the other end of the leash.

So, while Bruno does not like to share his food and toys, it can be managed. Being proactive and consistent are the keys and his trainer would demonstrate how to successfully handle this behavior using the exact methods Bruno expects and follows daily. He has not had any incidents at the trainer's once he realized he could trust the humans in his first weeks there.

We are optimistic that there is a dedicated home who is willing to work with Bruno and will recognize and value all his positives. For example, Bruno sits and waits until given permission to eat his meal, he walks beautifully on leash, he is receptive to whichever human he is with and will solicit affection and head rubs, he enjoys the role of being a companion to his human... it all just revolves around proactive management.

Even though Bruno is social with other dogs, we are asking for a home with no other dogs. This is because in a home it is expected there will be toys and objects of interest laying around that could lead to a skirmish. There are no toys out when he socializes with the other dogs at the trainer.

Interested in meeting this pup? Just submit our application if you'd like to be considered!
