Bruin's Story

Meet Bruin!
Bruin is a sweet, 4-year-old neutered male beagle who joined the VTSU Veterinary Technician program in January 2026. With his gentle nature and lovable quirks, Bruin is ready to find a home where he can feel safe, build confidence, and continue discovering the world around him.
Bruin has some clear favorites-squeeze cheese is at the very top of the list! He also has a funny preference when it comes to meals: he would much rather eat off a flat surface like a lick mat than from a bowl. On walks, Bruin's curious nose leads the way as he happily takes in all the new smells, and he especially enjoys watching birds overhead. While he loves exploring, he's just as content being a couch potato and relaxing at home with his person.
Bruin is a sensitive boy who can be startled by unexpected sounds, and squeaky toys aren't his favorite-they tend to offend him more than entertain him! He much prefers rope toys that let him play without surprises. Once he gets to know you, Bruin becomes incredibly affectionate and will happily climb into your lap, give kisses, and investigate you with his signature "sniff test."
He would thrive in a calm home with a consistent routine and would likely do best as the only dog. While he hasn't met cats, he may do just fine with them. Bruin has shown that he enjoys the company of calm, respectful children, making him a great fit for a family or an individual. A mix of outdoor adventures and cozy downtime would suit him perfectly, along with an owner who is patient and willing to help him build confidence at his own pace.
Bruin is a silly, quirky love bug looking for someone who appreciates his sensitive side. With a little reassurance, kindness, and consistency, he will reward you with so much love and companionship as he begins this next chapter.
**If you are interested in meeting Bruin, please fill out an application and we can arrange a meet and greet!
