Bruce's Story

Meet Bruce, the Yoda of lap sitting. Bruce is a young adult chihuahua mix 2-3 years old, and currently 15 pounds, but his ideal weight will be closer to 12 pounds. He's as chunky as he is snuggly. Bruce is good with other dogs, big and small. Initially he is intimidated and submissive around other dogs but quickly warms up and even plays a little. Mostly though Bruce has perfected the 'velcro' dog thing and just wants to be with his person. And his person will probably be a woman. Bruce is scared in new situations and seems to be afraid of men. Who can blame him though, his mom person passed and the man in the house was going to have him euthanized. Bruce is learning though that all men aren't bad guys here. He's a little intimidated by small children but has been accepting of dog saavy, calm preschoolers.

Bruce seems to be potty trained and will use puppy pads if he doesn't get let outside in time.

Bruce may take a few days to settle in at a new place, but with a little patience, once he does, he'll blend in perfectly and be your very best, loyal friend. Bruce would probably benefit from having a canine companion but if you're willing to spend lap time with him, he could be an only dog.

Bruce prefers being with his person, but is learning about crate training, and has shown no signs of destructive behavior. He's learning about walking on the leash and improving more everyday. Bruce was an awesome patient at his first vet appointment since coming into rescue and quickly gained the affection of both the tech and vet.
