Brownie's Story

ID 61679409
Please fill out an application online and email pevolaba@gmail.com to find out more about Brownie or to meet her.

Brownie is a beautiful Shepherd, 2 yrs of age, that was a surrender to the shelter due to health issues of the owner. She, as the majority of Shepherds, does not present well in the shelter kennel and it took her some time to understand her new situation. She will require an owner that has Shepherd background/experience to help her continue to give her guidance, and strong leadership so she understands what is expected of her. She needs some confidence building, needs structure, and a chance to use her Shepherd qualities in a positive manner.

Brownie knows sit, down, does love treats and has been working on taking them a bit more gentle. Since she is treat motivated, this will help her learn more and give her reward for accomplishing a task. She can be a bit mouthy in her approach so this is another area she can work on in her new home. It states on her surrender profile she is crate trained, housebroken (will need an adjustment time in a new environment) and has a sensitive side to her. She is quite loving and looks for pets of praise when she does something she is “proud” of.

She will bond with a person willing to give her all she needs, including exercise, training, consistency and patience. We have noticed she has a protective side with some food, and toys but with continued work, and training, she is sure to succeed. Some of this building trust with her handler, and feeling safe with her space. She absolutely loves a game of fetch with stuffed toys and has been learning to “out” and trade out for a treat. This has been great in letting her know that she can have her fun, and still train for obedience.

Please include experience with the breed on your application or when sending an email. Brownie deserves a chance at a new life, with a person willing to give her what she needs. Recommending a home with older respectful kids as she starts her journey so she can settle in, and get the proper guidance.
