Brownie's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Meet Brownie, a male mix (true mutt), 1 year old, 40 lbs. This handsome guy is a total lovebug once he feels safe and comfortable. At first meeting, he can be a little shy with new people, but give him a bit of time and he quickly blossoms into a very affectionate pup who loves kisses and will happily try to be your lap dog.

He gets excited when starting leash walks and may be a bit energetic at first, but after a few minutes he settles in nicely and walks well by your side. He’s still working on his manners and training, so he’ll occasionally “forget” his name—though every now and then, he surprises you and listens perfectly.

He’s a playful boy who loves toys and chew time. One of his cutest quirks is proudly prancing around with a toy before settling down to enjoy it.

Because he can be jumpy when excited, he would do best in a home with older kids. He would also thrive as the only dog in the home so he can soak up all the love and attention. His history with cats is unknown.

Once he trusts you, he is all heart—loyal, loving, and full of kisses. He just needs a patient home willing to let him continue to learn and grow.

If you’re looking for a sweet companion who will absolutely adore you once he feels safe, he might just be your perfect match. 💛

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
