Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not have blanket criteria regarding adoptions. Each applicant is considered based on many things including but not limited to breed experience, yard ( visible fence preferred) and other animals in home. We try to avoid dogs with same sex households as pyrs typically do not do well with the same sex. A volunteer will be in touch to discuss your application and the dog to determine if it is a good match. Your vet and two references will be called. A virtual home visit done. Once approved a meet and greet at the farm will take place. If all are in agreement an adoption contract will be signed and adoption fee paid. Adoption fees for dogs are $500. for adults over 12 months, $600 for puppies 12 months and younger. Fees for seniors, special needs or harder to place dogs will be determined by our Board of Directors. All dogs will be altered when adoption is finalized. This may involve young puppies be given until a certain age to be altered. All animals are up to date on age appropriate core vaccines, negative for parasites, heart worm and lyme tested if 6 months or older, microchipped and have a current health certificate. Proof of a basic obedience course completed is part of our adoption contract within six months. Our descriptions are based on shelter evaluations, input from foster homes and interactions with our volunteers but are in no way a guarantee of temperment. We show animals by appointment only. Barking Dog Farm Rescue's Adoption Policy

We do not follow a first come first serve basis but rather match the pet to the best possible home to meet it's needs and ensure the likelihood the pet will stay in that home for the duration of it's life. We have a lengthy application that helps us get info on potential adopters home and lifestyle as well as experience. If applicant appears to be a match we conduct a telephone interview. We call a landlord if applicable as well as vet and two personal references. A virtual home visit will be done ( hopeful to return to in person home visits ). Finally all family members come to meet the pet and if all are in agreement the adoption takes place including signing an adoption contract. We do give adopters two weeks to return pet for full refund if it doesn't seem to be working.
