Brody COURTESY POST's Story

Brody is a senior boy who is not part of our rescue, but we are assisting his owners with helping to find him a new home.
Please email us at info@twodogfarms.com if you are interested in finding out more about him, and we will put you in touch with his current family.

Notes from his family are as follows:

1. Age and weight - 12.5 years, 45lbs
2. Spayed/Neutered or not - Neutered
3. Vaccination status (rabies, DHLPP etc) - Up to date on all vaccines
4. Being wormed/flea/tick treated monthly? - Yes
5. Any medical issues (when did he/she last have a vet check up?) - No medical issues, last annual appointment 6/10/25
6. How does he/she behave around men/women/children/strangers/people on the street/other animals Brody has anxiety which can manifest as being reactive when on leashed walks toward other animals or big/loud/odd vehicles (e.g., cars with bike racks, trucks pulling landscaping equipment, etc.). His reactivity is pretty mild and he’ll usually pull a bit and may “huff and puff”. Brody’s anxiety can manifest as aggression toward unfamiliar people (particularly loud men) who enter his home and children. He is not reactive toward people when on leashed walks.
7. Normal daily routine (food/exercise) - Brody is let out to go to the bathroom in our fenced yard ~7am. He then eats breakfast and gets let out a few additional times throughout the day. If it’s nice out, he’ll hang out in our yard (with access to water) for as long as we let him. He is also taken on a 2-3 mile walk several times a week (every other day, if not more). He then eats dinner and is let back outside ~9pm.
8. Indoor or outdoor dog? (or both)- Brody is an indoor dog but spends a lot of time outside and enjoys it.
9. Level of training (what commands does he/she know/how does he/she walk on leash/reaction to seeing other dogs when on leash) Brody attended a two week board-and-train “bootcamp” a few years ago. He knows: heel, place, sit, shake, wave, come, stay, leave it, and down. Brody can be a little reactive (will start pulling on leash) when he sees another dog but if the person walking him says “heel” or “leave it” he calms down / listens well.
10. Any particular likes/dislikes (how is he/she about being handled/petted – any sensitive areas, like ears, feet etc.) Brody likes getting his ears scratched. He does not like when people touch his tail. He tolerates being pet anywhere else.
11. How does he/she react to riding in the car/going to the vet/can he/she be lifted Brody loves car rides and can jump in/out of the vehicle himself. He can also be picked up but he doesn’t really like it. Brody is very nervous at the vet has to be sedated for all exams.
12. Has he/she ever bitten any other animals/people? If so, what was the severity and was medical action needed? Several years ago, Brody jumped over the fence and bit our neighbor’s dog. The dog required a visit to the vet but was ultimately fine. Brody has nipped at a few adults over the years (one unfamiliar dog walker, once when an unfamiliar person was carrying food for our other dog in front of Brody). He did not break skin / no medical action was needed. More recently, he has attempted to nip at our toddler’s hands/feet. He did not break skin and no medical action was needed.
13. Any separation anxiety issues or other behavioural issues? Brody has general anxiety about anything that is not routine/”normal”. He is on Prozac and a low dose of gabapentin to keep him more relaxed. Because his anxiety can / has manifested as aggression, Brody should be the only animal in an adults-only home (i.e., no other pets or children). He would do best in a home where the owners do not often have company.
14. Where did you obtain the dog from and why are you attempting to rehome the dog now? How long have you owned the dog? Brody was purchased from a pet store in 2013. We have had him since he was 8 weeks old. Unfortunately despite training and medication, he is still reactive toward our toddler. We are attempting to rehome Brody so that he can live in an environment that isn’t triggering so that he can be happy.
