Brodie's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Brodie is a 4- to 5-year-old dachshund who is equal parts heart-stealer and couch snuggler. With his soulful eyes, endearing waddle, and soft fur perfect for cuddling, it’s impossible not to fall in love with him. He adores people and thrives on affection. Whether he’s nestled next to you during movie night or trotting alongside you on a short walk, Brodie just wants to be by your side.

Like many dachshunds, Brodie has a few breed-related quirks. He has experienced occasional seizures that appear to be well-managed with a high-quality diet. We're working with our vet to continue monitoring, and recent bloodwork came back normal with nothing that would indicate serious health issues. So far he's doing wonderfully and hasn’t required medication.

Brodie has also shown some mild neurological delay in his back legs, another trait not uncommon in his breed, and he will likely need back surgery in the near future. In the meantime, he requires physical therapy (we can teach you!) and should avoid high-impact activity and stairs. Short walks and gentle movement are encouraged and beneficial.

Since coming into our care, Brodie has also slimmed down a bit, which has made a positive impact on both his energy and mobility.

This little guy may need a watchful eye and some extra help, but what he offers in return is pure love. Brodie is sweet, stable, and full of personality. He would do best in a calm home with someone who understands the breed and is happy to give him the safe, loving life he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who will melt your heart daily, quirks and all, Brodie may just be your perfect match. Apply to meet him today! His adoption fee is $200.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/.

The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care.

Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy.

We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter.

CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract.

CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it.
