BROCK's Story

Brock is a smart, curious, tender-hearted dog with a sweet and happy personality. He loves being around his people and is always happy to get scratches and cuddles. While he's a big dog, he's incredibly easygoing about baths and grooming—and he especially loves a good brushing.

Brock has that wonderful older-dog balance—he still enjoys playing and exploring but is equally happy relaxing with his people. He loves playing catch, and we're pretty sure he'd be a natural at catching a Frisbee! He also enjoys relaxing outside in the shade, going for walks, meeting new people, and taking car rides (he makes a great passenger). One of his cutest quirks is the soft little howl he makes when a firetruck passes by.

Inside the home, Brock has great manners. He doesn't get into things, knows basic commands like “sit” and “come,” and responds well to redirection. He's a bit of a shadow dog who will follow you from room to room, but he's also happy to settle nearby on his own. When he wants some extra affection, he'll lean against you for pets. He may politely ask to join you on the couch, but if the answer is no, he'll give a little grumble and settle into his own spot instead.

Brock has shown no signs of separation anxiety and does well in his crate when his foster leaves the house. He handles stairs well, gets into the car independently, and has had no accidents in his foster home while settling into a consistent eating and bathroom routine.

On walks, Brock is curious about people, bikes, and cars, but other animals can be especially exciting for him. He can pull or lunge toward barking dogs, squirrels, and rabbits and may be harder to redirect when excited, although he is able to settle with guidance. He would benefit from continued positive-reinforcement training and someone comfortable handling a larger dog to help him continue building his leash skills.

Overall, Brock is an affectionate, adaptable, and fun companion. He's playful without needing constant entertainment and is just as happy exploring with his person as he is lounging nearby afterward. He will bring so much sweetness, personality, and affection to his future home.
