Britta's Story

Britta was sighted in the Minot area for approximately a month running astray. She is named after the first person that saw her and brought to our attention. Britta was in survival mode and unapproachable by humans, so she had to be humanely live trapped with a specialized dog trap. After a few strategic days of feeding, we were able to set the trap live and caught her with little wait. Britta was so sensitive to changes in the area where she felt safe that we had to stay away from the area as much as possible. We instructed the homeowner on feeding tips and next steps. With great communication and team efforts, Britta's capture was possible. In rescue, she has shown to be dog selective. Some does she does okay with but others she immediately dislikes. She LOVES her person and is the ultimate velcro dog. We are recommending her into a home with no other dogs so she does not feel the need to guard any items or people precious to her. She may do well in a home with cats but this is still in the observation process. Britta is a moderate to high energy dog that will need brain work daily and a chance to run those powerful legs. When excited, she is a jumper but is working on this habit with Dog Training With Kasey (DTWK). Free training through DTWK is available to Britta's adoption family for the lifetime of the dog.Our adoption process is simple, relationship-centered, and provides supportive education. You can expect your adoption interest to go like this:
1. Submit your electronic form
2. An AEL representative will contact you to schedule a phone call or adoption counsel session.
3. Come to your adoption counsel session to meet the pet you're interested in and ready to take them home with you (dependent on the pet, some need more than one meet)
4. If the pet is determined to be a good fit with your family by both you and the AEL representative, you will sign your contract, submit your adoption payment, and take your new friend home!

Let us know you're interested here: http://tinyurl.com/AELadoptionsquad
