Briggs's Story

Briggs is an 8 year old neutered male pointer mix, possibly with beagle or cocker spaniel. He has been fully vetted and is ready to go home. Briggs has been spending time with a wonderful foster home who happens to be a dog trainer as well. He is a very busy boy who needs a job to challenge his brain. He would do well with someone who is involved in dog sports such as scent work or barn hunt. In his previous home he had been kept crated a lot while the owner wasn't home, as a result he was anxious about being home by himself. His foster home has been working with him on that and making great progress. Whomever adopts him would be able to work with the current foster to ensure his success.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

If a dog is listed on our website, it is still available for adoption; however, there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment.

Our dog adoption fee is $450 for dogs aged seven months to seven years old, and $250 for dogs aged eight years and older. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is treated for worms, ticks, and fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog in our care.

With few exceptions, dogs are happiest and well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
