Briggs's Story

Briggs was surrendered to us due to his previous owner's housing issue. He is a very cute 8-year-old pup and very friendly, but does have some anxiety that we think will go away when he settles in. He is good on leash and loves to go for walks.

He came to us very underweight, so he saw the vet, was wormed right away, and was put on a three-meal-per-day feeding schedule to get him back to a healthy weight. He will be neutered and updated on all of his vet care once we get his weight back up, and will be available for adoption after that. We were told he has never lived with kids or other pets, but he seems friendly with the other dogs in our care when they see each other through the fence. He weighs 27 lbs right now. Stay tuned for more information about him.

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

If a dog is listed on our website, it is still available for adoption; however, there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment.

Our dog adoption fee is $450 for dogs aged seven months to seven years old, and $250 for dogs aged eight years and older. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is treated for worms, ticks, and fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed or neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you would like to be considered for a dog in our care.

With few exceptions, dogs are happiest and well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
