Brick's Story

1. What is your name?
Brick. I’m being built—brick by brick—into a real dog.
2. How old are you?
I’m 5 years old. I’ve seen some things. My foster mom says this is the magic age for a pit bull—past the teenage nonsense, fully entering the best bro dog ever territory.
3. What do you look like?
I’m a deep, dark red with a solid, sturdy build. Not bulky, not fragile—just right. I’m the kind of size that fits walks, hikes, couches, and hearts.
4. What do you like to eat?
Food. All of it. Food helped me learn how to trust, how to be brave, and how to enjoy training. I’m very food-motivated and very appreciative.
5. What kind of personality do you have?
I’m shy at first. If we’ve just met, you might think I’m very reserved. Give me time, though, and you’ll see the real me. Once I bond, I’ll politely—but firmly—remind you to keep petting me by sliding my head under your hand.
I love walks and hikes. I LOVE two-ball fetch with two ChuckIt! balls (this is important). I enjoy running laps with my foster brother Samba. I’m sweet, thoughtful, and my eyes tell stories I’m not ready to share yet.
6. Describe your perfect day.
A walk or a hike, followed by Netflix and chill. Maybe a short recess for fetch. Then back to the couch with my human.
7. What is your favorite toy?
ChuckIt! rubber balls. Accept no substitutes. I like other toys too, but I will destroy them if given the opportunity. I also enjoy chewing moose paddles thoughtfully on the couch.
8. Do you know any tricks?
I’m learning. I walk nicely on leash and I’ll sit for you. My foster mom keeps things low-pressure—obedience can still feel like a lot for me. That said, I make good choices about 95% of the time.
(Full disclosure: I chewed a remote once.)
9. What scares you?
Loud noises like gunshots. We learned through an X-ray that a bump under my skin was actually a BB—so yes, at some point I was shot. I’m also uncomfortable when new people rush me. I’m never aggressive—I might just retreat. Give me space and patience and I’ll show you how gentle and loving I really am.
10. Do you like cats and dogs?
I love Samba—even when I have to remind him to stop acting like a fool. I also live peacefully with two older female dogs. On walks, I have excellent manners and don’t pull toward other dogs.
11. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
On the couch. Preferably next to my human.
12. How is your health?
I’m healthy and very low-maintenance. My foster mom calls me “a breath of fresh air.”
13. How long have you lived in your foster home?
Since Even Chance rescued me in August.
14. Who do you live with and who’s your closest companion?
I live with a mom, dad, a teenage boy, and a teenage girl. There are several dogs—some a little snobby—but my best friend is Samba. He’s like the little step-brother I didn’t know I needed.
15. Where do you hang out when you’re home alone?
My crate. I’m crate trained and trustworthy.
16. Where do you sleep?
Also my crate. I appreciate routine.
17. What was life like before Even Chance rescued you?
We don’t know all the details. My eyes suggest there were some hard chapters. The important part is that I survived—and my foster mom believes in me.

Want to adopt Brick?
Apply here:
