Briar's Story
Briar is a 3-year-old Australian Shepherd who came to us from local animal control, and she has truly blossomed in foster care. Now that she’s had time to settle in, we can confidently say, this girl is something special. She has adjusted wonderfully and continues to show us what a sweet, loyal companion she is.

Briar may have a little “stranger danger” at first, especially with men, but with slow introductions and a bit of patience, she warms up and becomes incredibly affectionate. Once you’re her person, you are her person, she absolutely thrives on that bond and loves being close.

She’s house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on leash. Briar is also dog-friendly with other respectful, more submissive dogs and enjoys their company when introductions are done properly.

While she’s made amazing progress, Briar will do best in a home that understands her sensitivities. She can be a bit timid with loud noises and new situations, and she may show some separation anxiety when first crated, but she settles well with time and routine.

Grooming will be important for Briar’s coat, and she will require professional grooming. She can get overstimulated during blow drying (she likes to “bite the air”), so we recommend a groomer experienced with using a muzzle for safety. Her previous notes mentioned sensitivity with rear-end handling; while we haven’t observed any issues, we do recommend being mindful and respectful in that area.

Because of her breed and temperament, Briar is looking for an adult-only home, no kids or cats.

Briar is a gentle, intelligent, and deeply loving dog who just needs the right environment to continue thriving. She has come so far already, and we know her perfect match is out there.

🧬 Australian Shepherd
🎂 3 years old
🐶 Dog friendly (prefers submissive dogs, slow intros)
🚫 No cats
🚫 No kids
🦮 Walks well on leash
🏡 House & crate trained
💗 Extremely loyal and affectionate with her person
👀 Stranger danger at first, warms up with time
👨 Slow introductions needed with men
🔇 Sensitive to loud noises
✂️ Will require professional grooming (muzzle recommended for drying)
🧠 Smart girl continuing to build confidence
📦 Some crate-related separation anxiety, but settles well
