Breeze's Story
Meet Breeze!! (case #15938)

Looking for a best friend who's equal parts sweet, smart, and ready to explore the world? Meet Breeze!

At approximately 6 months old, Breeze is believed to be a Collie/Sheltie mix, which means he comes with a big brain, an eager-to-please attitude, and enough enthusiasm to brighten every day. Like any puppy, he's still figuring out this whole "world" thing and every day is a new adventure!

Breeze is a friendly, social guy who has won over everyone he's met at the shelter. He loves spending time with people, happily greets new friends, and enjoys being around other dogs. He's still learning proper doggy manners and how to interact with canine pals, but his kind nature makes him a wonderful student.

As you'd expect from a growing puppy, Breeze is still building confidence. Loud trucks, busy roads, and unfamiliar situations can make him pause for a moment, but the best part? He bounces back quickly and is always ready to try again. With patient guidance and positive experiences, he's already showing that he has all the ingredients to grow into a confident adult.

He's also learning his manners! Breeze already knows "sit" and is working hard on his focus skills. Like many puppies, he sometimes gets excited and greets people with a joyful jump, but he's eager to learn and responds beautifully to gentle, positive training. He was calm and cooperative during his shelter handling and has shown that he truly enjoys learning new things.

Because Breeze is likely a mix of two incredibly intelligent herding breeds, he'll thrive with a family that enjoys staying active and including their dog in daily life. Walks, hikes, training classes, puzzle toys, scent games, and learning fun new tricks are exactly the kinds of activities that will keep both his body and brilliant mind happy.

We think Breeze would make an excellent addition to an active family with dog-savvy children who understand puppy manners. He could also do well with a patient, friendly canine companion after thoughtful introductions.

Like many herding breeds, Breeze may naturally take a little time to size up new people before deciding they're friends which is perfectly normal! After all, generations of herding dogs were bred to pay attention to their surroundings rather than greet every stranger like a long-lost buddy. Continued positive exposure to new people, places, and experiences will help him blossom into a well-rounded adult.

While we haven't seen any herding behaviours such as nipping or trying to control movement, it's something potential adopters should be aware of when considering any herding breed mix. These instincts can sometimes appear as puppies mature, particularly around fast-moving children or cats. The good news? Herding breeds are among the most trainable dogs in the world, and Breeze is already proving he loves to learn.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who's eager to learn, loves being part of the action, and is ready to grow alongside his forever family, Breeze just might be the perfect fit.

Bring home Breeze and let the adventures begin! Please complete an adoption application:

https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions

Breeze has an appointment to be neutered on July 9th. He will be ready to go to his forever home after this surgery.

Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families.

*Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
