Boze's Story

Meet Boze. Some dogs are good dogs. Boze is the kind of dog people describe as "the best boy."

Boze is a little over 4 years old and weighs 71 pounds. We think he may be a Boxer/Retriever mix, but whatever his breed makeup, it produced one incredibly smart, friendly, and well-rounded companion.

A graduate of our North Central Correctional Institute Obedience Program, Boze has the training to match his good looks. He knows his commands, enjoys learning, and is eager to engage with his people. But what really makes Boze special isn't what he knows-it's how easy he is to be around. Boze is friendly, affectionate, and easy to handle. He's the kind of dog who can accompany you on adventures, attend events, meet new people, and take life's changes in stride. He has done well with other dogs and has represented Canine Collective beautifully at public events. Volunteers consistently come away impressed by what a great companion he is. He enjoys toys, loves attention, and still has a playful side, but he's also a dog with excellent manners and a good head on his shoulders.

One of Boze's shining moments came when he joined a local high school cross-country team for a run. Not only did he keep up with the runners for two miles, but he did it politely on leash and impressed everyone involved. The students couldn't stop talking about what a great dog he was. That's Boze in a nutshell-ready for an adventure, happy to be part of the team, and always leaving people with a smile. Boze was also a favorite during his time in our prison obedience program. In fact, when he recently needed to put a few pounds back on after losing weight in the kennel, he returned to his old digs and quickly regained his healthy weight. It's safe to say his prison friends were happy to spoil him a little!

Boze has been waiting longer than he should for a family to notice him. If you're looking for a smart, loyal, versatile dog who is ready to be your best friend, Boze may be exactly who you've been searching for. Apply at www.caninecollective.org
